This weekend (26th to 28th January) is the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch. This is the 40th year of the survey which started out as an event for children back in 1979. Having an arena can make riding at this time of year a lot easier. Heavy rain and snow can make the roads quite dangerous being slippery. This is compounded with the issue of bad visibility. Ultimately, hacking out has taken a back seat for a while! Even riding in fields can be hard, with the ground being thick with mud or completely frozen!
